When You Need Dishwasher Repair in Southwest Florida
Dishwasher problems follow a handful of repeatable patterns, and the pattern usually tells us what's wrong before we open the panel. Here's what we see in Naples, Marco Island, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers kitchens most often, ordered from the simple stuff to the involved repairs.
Hard-water filter clogging and scale buildup
From the tech's bench: Florida dishwasher filters turn into concrete in about six months if they aren't rinsed under the tap monthly. The combination of Naples, Cape Coral, and Bonita Springs water hardness and dishwasher detergent residue is unforgiving. Symptoms: water pooling at the bottom of the tub, slow drains between cycles, dishes coming out gritty, and ultimately a circulation pump that has to be replaced because mineral scale has worn the impeller. Catching this at the filter stage saves the pump.
Won't drain — water sitting at the bottom
Most often the drain pump is jammed by a piece of glass, a bone fragment, or a fruit pit that worked past the filter — or the pump motor has failed. Less often, the air gap on the countertop or the dishwasher-disposal connection is clogged. On Bosch, Miele, and KitchenAid models, the pump is a discrete part we carry on the truck and the repair is a same-visit fix.
Won't fill — weak water flow or none at all
The water inlet valve is the usual culprit — Florida hard water deposits scale inside the valve solenoid until it can't open fully. Less often, the supply-line shutoff under the sink is partially closed, or the float switch is stuck. We test pressure at the valve before any teardown.
Leaking — gasket, internal hoses, or door seal
Water on the floor in front of the dishwasher is almost always one of three things. The door gasket has a tear or a piece of trapped food that breaks the seal. The internal rubber hose connections between the sump, pump, and inlet valve have loosened or perished from heat and detergent over years. Or — on Bosch and Miele models — the flood-safe pan at the base has tripped and there's an upstream leak we need to chase. Each is a different repair; the diagnostic order matters.
Dishes coming out dirty or wet
If dishes are dirty, the most common cause is a clogged spray arm or a tired circulation pump that can't push enough pressure to clean the upper rack. Sometimes the heating element has failed and the wash water never gets hot enough to dissolve detergent properly. If dishes come out wet, the heating element is failing during the dry cycle, or the rinse aid dispenser isn't releasing. We test each subsystem with a meter before recommending a part.
Error codes — Bosch E15 / E22 / E24, Miele F-codes
Bosch E15 is the flood-safe trigger (water in the base pan); E22 is the filter or drain pump; E24 is the drain hose blockage. Miele F codes point precisely to the failed subsystem — water inlet, circulation pump, or heater circuit. KitchenAid and Whirlpool dishwashers use blinking light sequences that map similarly. Telling us the code on the phone often lets us bring the right part the same day.
Door latch, detergent dispenser, and spring issues
A door that won't latch usually means the strike plate has shifted or the latch assembly has worn out — both straightforward replacements. A detergent dispenser door that won't open mid-cycle is the dispenser solenoid (electronic models) or the bi-metal trip (older models). A door that slams shut or won't stay open at any angle is a worn door spring or cable, replaced in pairs.
Reading these patterns is half the diagnostic — and where most homeowner guessing goes sideways. The other half is meter-testing the right components in the right order with years of Miele, Bosch, KitchenAid, Cove, and Whirlpool pattern recognition. Call (239) 544-4666 — most dishwasher problems are diagnosed in 20 minutes and resolved the same visit.
Why Dishwashers Fail in Southwest Florida
Dishwashers in Naples, Marco Island, and Cape Coral lead a harder life than the manufacturer's lab testing assumes. Local water, humidity, and seasonal-use patterns drive failure modes you won't see in dry inland climates.
Hard water is the single biggest factor
Cape Coral, Golden Gate, and inland Bonita Springs run on well water heavy with calcium, iron, and dissolved minerals. Naples municipal water is also harder than national averages. Within two to three years, scale builds up on the water inlet valve, the heating element, and inside the spray arms. Symptoms compound: weaker spray, lower wash temperatures, mineral spots on glassware, and eventually a circulation pump that can't push pressure through scaled-up spray nozzles. A whole-house softener slows the process meaningfully; routine valve and element service handles the rest.
Florida humidity degrades door gaskets faster
Kitchen humidity in Naples and Marco Island sits well above national averages year-round. The rubber door gasket on a dishwasher is exposed to wet-dry cycles plus ambient humidity, and accelerated softening shows up around year five — sooner in vacation homes that sit unused for months at a time. We see torn or warped gaskets on coastal premium dishwashers earlier than on the same model in Atlanta or Denver.
Snowbird non-use creates a different kind of failure
A dishwasher that sits unused from May through October — typical in Naples, Pelican Bay, and Marco Island seasonal homes — comes back to a few predictable problems. Biological growth colonizes the sump and drain hoses. The pump impeller stiffens. The door gasket dries out and cracks. A "first cycle of the season" that leaks or smells is almost always one of these. We service hundreds of seasonal homes pre-arrival to head it off.
Power surges from afternoon storms
Southwest Florida sees 70–90 lightning days a year, among the highest in the country. Modern dishwashers — particularly Bosch, Miele, Cove, Thermador, and KitchenAid premium models — have sophisticated main control boards that don't appreciate voltage spikes. After named storms (Ian, Helene, Milton), we replaced a steady stream of fried dishwasher boards from Collier through Lee. Whole-home surge protection helps but doesn't fully eliminate the risk.
Heavy entertaining season accelerates wear
Naples and Marco Island kitchens run two to three dishwasher cycles a day during the November-through-April entertaining season — sometimes more for catering-style hosting. That doubles or triples the wear per year vs. a typical household. Pump bearings, gasket compression, heating element coatings — all accumulate cycle-fatigue faster here. The same Miele or Bosch that lasts 18 years in the Northeast might log the same total cycles in 10–12 years on Gulf Shore Boulevard.
Dishwasher Repair Options & Methods
Naples kitchens run nearly every dishwasher platform on the market — quiet Bosch and Miele units in luxury condos, Thermador Sapphire across remodels, KitchenAid and GE Profile in upper-mid family kitchens, Samsung and Whirlpool in volume builder packages. Each platform has its own fault-code logic and parts pipeline. Here are the dishwasher brands we service most weeks of the year.
Bosch
The whisper-quiet European premium reference. 800 Series, Benchmark, 500, and 300 across multiple generations install in Naples condos, Bonita Bay newer construction, and Estero family kitchens. We verify BSH power-cord recall against your specific model and serial.
Miele
The German engineering benchmark. G 7000 with AutoDos, G 5000 still running across Pelican Bay condo refits, and the ProfiLine commercial-grade units. Fault-code diagnostic discipline — we diagnose by code, not by guess.
Thermador
BSH luxury — Sapphire, Star Sapphire flagship lines, Emerald and Topaz tiers. Common in Naples and Bonita Bay remodels paired with Thermador Freedom Collection refrigeration.
KitchenAid
Whirlpool premium — KDFE, KDPE, KDTE, KDTM model ranges. Strong in upper-mid builder packages across Bonita Springs, Estero, and Naples upscale remodels.
GE Profile
GE step-up — PDT and PDW model ranges. Heavy volume across Naples newer condos, Cape Coral remodels, and Fort Myers family homes.
Samsung
Korean premium — case-brake assemblies, water-wall sprayers, smart-connected models. Common in Naples newer remodels and Estero family-luxury kitchens.
Whirlpool
High-volume mainstream — WDT and WDF lineups across multiple generations. Cost-effective repairs with strong Whirlpool-family parts logistics.
Whichever dishwasher brand sits in your kitchen, we arrive with the right diagnostic logic and parts on the truck. Call (239) 544-4666.
Repair or Replace? How to Decide
Dishwasher math depends on brand tier, age, and which subsystem failed. We give straight answers — sometimes that means telling you to replace instead of repair.
Premium built-in (Cove, Miele, Thermador, Gaggenau, Monogram, JennAir, Dacor, Fisher & Paykel, Bosch Benchmark, Viking)
Repair, almost always. Cove (Sub-Zero Group's dishwasher), Miele, and Bosch Benchmark are built to be repaired component-by-component for 15–20 years. The panel and cabinetry surround add cost that doesn't transfer to a new unit. Pumps, valves, gaskets, and even main boards are individually replaceable on these models. Exceptions: catastrophic tub damage or simultaneous failures across multiple subsystems on an aged unit.
Premium specialty (Asko, Bosch 800-series, Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer)
Same logic, slightly narrower window. Repair through year 12–14 is the right call. The Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer in particular is unusual — two independent drawers operate as separate units, so often only one needs service while the other keeps running. Asko and Bosch 800-series have strong parts availability long-term.
Upper-mid / Pro-grade (KitchenAid, GE Café, Café, GE Profile, Electrolux ICON, Beko, Blomberg, Smeg, Bertazzoni, Fulgor Milano, ZLINE)
The 50% rule is the starting frame: if the repair would cost more than half of replacement, replacement usually wins. A pump or inlet valve on a six-year-old KitchenAid? Easy repair. A main board on a nine-year-old GE Café? Borderline — boards are pricey and replacement may make more sense. We'll tell you which model years are flagged in our records.
Mid-tier (GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch 300/500-series, Amana, Hotpoint, Kenmore)
The everyday brands we service across Naples, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers daily — straightforward designs and good parts availability. Pumps, valves, heating elements, and door switches are routine repairs even at year 10+. A main control board failure past year 10 is closer to the replacement line; we'll tell you honestly which way the math lands at the diagnostic visit.
- Premium built-in (Cove, Miele, Thermador, Bosch Benchmark): repair through year 20
- Premium specialty (Asko, Bosch 800, F&P DishDrawer): repair through year 14
- Upper-mid / Pro-grade (KitchenAid, GE Café, Café): repair through year 12
- Mid-tier (GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire): case-by-case from year 9
When we tell you to replace — often. We're a repair business, but we don't take a job we don't believe is the right move. If the math says replace, the technician says so on the diagnostic visit, and the diagnostic fee is the only thing you owe.
Why Southwest Florida Chooses AllFix for Dishwasher Repair
Naples and Cape Coral hard water wears dishwashers differently than the manufacturer's lab water predicts — water inlet valves scale within 18-24 months, drain pumps wear faster, heater elements deposit scale. Naples lightning storms fry control boards on a regular schedule. After two decades on the bench, we know the dishwasher failure patterns cold across every platform. We service every one of the 11 communities we cover.

Dishwasher Repair FAQ
Questions we field most often on dishwasher repair — pulled directly from the calls we take across Naples, Marco Island, and the rest of Southwest Florida.
How much does dishwasher repair cost?
The $69 diagnostic visit gives a written estimate. Common single-visit repairs — drain pump replacement, water inlet valve, heater element, door latch — fall in a predictable range. Circulation pump bearing replacement and control board failures cost more. The diagnostic fee applies toward the repair if you proceed.
Dishwasher won't drain — what's wrong?
Almost always one of three things: clogged filter (DIY-removable on most modern units), drain pump impeller jammed by debris or scale, or a blocked drain hose. Less often: drain pump motor failure or check valve stuck closed. The diagnostic visit identifies the specific cause in 15-20 minutes.
Should I descale my dishwasher?
Yes — Naples municipal water and Cape Coral well water are hard enough that dishwasher water inlet valves, heater elements, and spray arm mechanisms scale within 18-24 months. Running factory-recommended descale cycles every six months extends service life. We descale and clean as part of routine service calls.
How long should a dishwasher last in Naples?
Premium dishwashers (Bosch, Miele, Thermador) routinely run 12-18 years with regular descaling. Mainstream units (Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG) typically 8-12 years. Coastal installations within five miles of the gulf usually need their first major service call earlier from salt-air degradation on control board contacts.
Is there a dishwasher recall I should know about?
Possibly — BSH (Bosch, Thermador, JennAir, and some Kenmore-branded dishwashers built by BSH) extended a power-cord overheating recall to specific model and serial ranges. The recall is real but applies only to specific serials. When you call, we verify your exact model and serial against the open-recall list before service.
Do you offer same-day dishwasher service?
Same-day or next-day for most of our coverage area. Naples, Marco Island, Pelican Bay, and Bonita Springs are typically same-day if you call before noon. Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, and Lely depend on the day's routing. The $69 service call applies toward the repair.
