When You Need Oven, Range & Cooktop Repair in Southwest Florida
Cooking equipment fails in a handful of recognizable patterns — and the pattern usually tells us whether we're dealing with a sensor, a heating element, an igniter, or a board. Here's what we see across Naples, Marco Island, and Fort Myers kitchens most often, ordered from simple to involved.
Oven won't hold temperature — or runs hot or cold
This is the most common electric-oven call we get. The temperature sensor (thermistor) drifts as it ages, and the oven either overshoots or undercooks — your roast is dry or your bread is raw. Less often, the bake element has a hairline failure that intermittently breaks the circuit. We test the sensor with a meter before pulling anything; many "the oven is broken" calls turn out to be a ten-minute thermistor swap.
Oven not heating at all
On electric ovens, the bake element or broil element has burned out — usually visible as a discolored spot or a break along the coil. On gas Wolf, Thermador, and Viking ovens, it's almost always the oven igniter, especially if you hear gas hissing but no flame. Igniters are wear parts; six to eight years is typical in Naples luxury kitchens because of the heavy entertaining season. We stock OEM igniters for Wolf, Thermador, Viking, and BlueStar on the truck.
Cooktop burner dead — only one or two zones
On electric coil or smoothtop cooktops, a single dead burner is almost always the infinite switch (the rotary knob assembly) or the radiant element under that zone — easy to test and swap. On induction cooktops, a dead zone usually means the induction coil itself or the inverter board for that zone has failed. On gas Wolf or Thermador surface burners that won't ignite, we check the spark module, the igniter electrode, and the spark wire seating — in that order.
Self-clean cycle locked the door
A self-clean cycle that completes but leaves the door locked is one of the most common emergency calls we get the week before Thanksgiving. The cycle runs the oven to 850°F+ and triggers a thermal latch; if the lock mechanism or its sensor fails, the door stays sealed. Do not force it — you'll crack the glass or bend the hinge. We can release the lock manually and replace the latch assembly the same visit.
Error codes — F1, F2, F3, F9, E codes
Each manufacturer codes failures differently, but the patterns are consistent: F1 / F2 are usually keypad or board faults; F3 is the temperature sensor circuit; F9 is the door lock. On Wolf and Thermador, the alphanumeric codes point precisely to the failed subsystem and we can usually clear and verify on the first visit. Telling us the code on the phone often lets us bring the right part the same day.
Convection fan noise, broiler dead, door won't close
Convection fan grinding or rattling is a worn bearing on the rear fan motor — replace, don't lubricate; the bearings reseize fast. A dead broiler with a working bake element is the broil element itself or its relay. A door that won't close or seal usually means hinge fatigue (the springs lose tension) or a warped gasket — both straightforward replacements.
Reading the symptom right is half the diagnostic; the other half is testing the components in the right order with a meter and 20 years of Wolf, Thermador, Viking, and KitchenAid pattern recognition. Call (239) 544-4666 — most oven and range problems are diagnosed in 20 minutes and resolved the same visit, especially during Naples entertaining season when kitchen downtime isn't an option.
Why Ovens & Cooktops Fail in Southwest Florida
A Wolf range in a Naples kitchen lives a different life than the same range in Connecticut. The local environment and use patterns drive failure modes you won't see anywhere else.
Heavy entertaining season, November through April
Naples and Marco Island kitchens see five to six months of season-resident entertaining — dinner parties, holiday cooking, multi-burner workouts — then sit largely idle through summer. Wolf and Thermador igniters wear in proportion to how many times they cycle, so a range that ran lightly in Atlanta might log three times the ignitions per year here. We see a clear seasonal failure pattern: igniter and infinite-switch calls peak between November and February.
Salt air corrodes stainless and electrical contacts
Within five miles of the Gulf — Port Royal, Aqualane Shores, The Moorings, Park Shore, Marco Island, Fort Myers Beach — salt creeps into the burner box, pits the spark electrodes, and slowly degrades the back-panel wiring. Premium stainless surfaces hold up well; the components hidden behind them don't. This is the single biggest reason a coastal Wolf range needs igniter service at year eight when an inland unit in Estero or Ave Maria would still be clean at year twelve.
Power surges from afternoon storms
Southwest Florida sees 70–90 lightning days a year, among the highest in the country. Voltage spikes are brutal on oven main control boards and induction inverter boards, especially the more sophisticated electronics in Thermador Masterpiece, Wolf M-series, and GE Café connected ranges. After named storms — Ian, Helene, Milton — we replaced a steady stream of fried boards from Collier through Lee. Whole-home surge protection helps but doesn't eliminate the risk.
Built-in cabinetry traps heat and humidity
Built-in wall ovens, steam ovens, and combi units installed inside tight cabinetry — standard in Pelican Bay, Bay Colony, Mediterra, and Grey Oaks kitchens — accumulate heat behind the unit on every long bake. Combined with year-round Florida humidity, this stresses control boards and door switches faster than the manufacturer's lab testing assumed. We see Miele steam ovens and Wolf E-series wall ovens with board failures around year nine in those installations.
Hard water on steam ovens and combi units
Miele and Wolf steam ovens and combi-steam units take a tap-water feed. Naples municipal water and Cape Coral well water are both heavy enough to scale up the steam generator within two to three years if descaling isn't kept on schedule. Symptoms: weak steam, error codes on the steam circuit, water leaks from the heater. We descale and rebuild these units routinely.
Hurricane prep and gas-line shutoffs
Gas ranges shut down before a hurricane and powered back up after — sometimes with low gas pressure or air in the line — frequently come back with ignition problems. Air bubbles in the gas line, partially closed shutoff valves, or regulator hiccups after restart all show as "the burner won't light." We see a clear failure spike the week after every named storm. If your range hasn't lit cleanly since the last storm, that's why.

Repair or Replace? How to Decide
Cooking equipment in Naples and Marco Island homes is often a substantial investment integrated into custom cabinetry. The honest answer on repair-versus-replace depends on three things: the brand tier, the age, and exactly what's broken. We give straight answers.
Premium built-in (Wolf, Thermador, Miele, Viking, Monogram, Gaggenau)
Repair, almost always. A Wolf range or Thermador combi-steam is a major investment, and the panel and cabinetry surround add several thousand on top. These units routinely run 18 to 25 years with proper service — igniters, sensors, control boards, latches all have parts available long-term. Exceptions: catastrophic damage that compromises the gas valve or oven cavity insulation, or simultaneous failures across multiple subsystems on an already-aged unit.
Premium freestanding (Bertazzoni, Fulgor Milano, ILVE, AGA, BlueStar, La Cornue, JennAir, Dacor, Fisher & Paykel, Bosch Benchmark)
Luxury freestanding cooking that runs just below the built-in tier in price — BlueStar professional ranges, La Cornue and AGA showpiece ranges, Bertazzoni Italian dual-fuel, Fulgor Milano and ILVE European builds. Repair makes sense through year 14, with case-by-case decisions past that. The narrower window is because freestanding units don't carry the panel and cabinetry surround cost — swapping a new one is straightforward, so the math tilts toward replacement faster than on a true built-in.
Upper-mid / Pro-grade (KitchenAid, GE Café, GE Profile, Bosch 800-series, Electrolux ICON, Frigidaire Professional)
The pro-grade consumer cooking tier that sits just below the Wolf and Thermador built-in luxury segment. KitchenAid built-in wall ovens, GE Café and Profile ranges, and Bosch 800-series show up in Naples and Pelican Bay kitchens that want luxury-adjacent design without the top-tier price. These reward repair through year 14 — parts availability is strong and control board, sensor, and element-level service is routine. Past year 14, the 50% rule starts to apply on individual repairs.
Mid-tier (GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch 300/500-series, Amana, Hotpoint, Kenmore)
The everyday brands we service across Naples, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers daily — straightforward designs, good parts availability. The 50% rule is the starting frame: if the repair would cost more than half of replacement, replacement usually wins. A bake element on a five-year-old GE or Whirlpool? Easy repair. A main board failure on an eight-year-old Samsung induction range? Borderline — induction inverter boards are pricey, and replacement may make more sense. We'll tell you which model years and subsystems are flagged in our records, and we'll tell you honestly which way the math lands at the diagnostic visit.
- Premium built-in (Wolf, Thermador, Miele, Viking, Monogram, Gaggenau): repair through year 22
- Premium freestanding (Bertazzoni, Fulgor Milano, ILVE, AGA, BlueStar, La Cornue): repair through year 14
- Upper-mid / Pro-grade (KitchenAid, GE Café, GE Profile, Bosch 800): repair through year 14
- Mid-tier (GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire): case-by-case from year 10
When we tell you to replace — often. We're a repair business, but we don't take a job we don't believe is the right move. If the math says replace, the technician says so on the diagnostic visit, and the diagnostic fee is the only thing you owe.
Why Southwest Florida Chooses AllFix for Oven Repair

Oven Repair FAQ
Questions we field most often on oven, range, and cooktop repair — pulled directly from the calls we take across Naples, Marco Island, and the rest of Southwest Florida.
How much does oven repair cost in Naples?
The $69 diagnostic visit gives a written estimate before any repair work. Common single-visit repairs — oven igniter replacement, spark module swap, bake element, surface burner port cleaning — fall in a predictable range with the diagnostic fee applied toward the repair. Sealed-burner manifold work and main control board replacement cost more and warrant the repair-vs-replace conversation. We never quote sight-unseen.
My oven won't heat — what's wrong?
Gas oven: weak or failed igniter that still glows but doesn't pull enough current to open the safety gas valve. Electric oven: bake element with a hairline break, temperature sensor drift, or relay board failure. Dual-fuel: same as electric on the oven side. The diagnostic visit identifies which in 20-30 minutes — many running-but-not-heating calls resolve same-visit with parts on the truck.
Surface burner clicks but won't light — fix?
The single most common cooktop call we get. The spark module is firing (the click), but the burner isn't catching. Cause: wet or dirty spark electrode, drifted electrode gap, or a loose spark wire at the module. Less often, the spark module itself. We clean and re-gap on-site as part of any ignition call — often a 10-minute fix rather than a parts replacement.
How long should a luxury range last in Naples?
Built-in pro ranges (Wolf, Viking, Thermador, BlueStar) routinely run 18-22 years with regular maintenance. Mainstream gas ranges (GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG) typically 10-14 years. Coastal range installations within five miles of the gulf see spark electrode degradation at year 5-8 from salt air. Heavy daily-cooking households (the typical luxury-range customer profile) compress all of these timelines.
Do you offer same-day oven service?
Same-day or next-day for most of our coverage area. Naples, Marco Island, Pelican Bay, and Bonita Springs are typically same-day if you call before noon. Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, and Lely depend on the day's routing — often same-day, occasionally next-morning. The $69 service call covers the diagnostic and applies toward the repair if you proceed.
Should I add surge protection for my range?
Yes — particularly for dual-fuel ranges with electronic ovens, induction ranges, M-series and ME wall ovens, and Advantium speed ovens. Southwest Florida averages 70 to 90 lightning days a year and oven control boards are a common failure mode after Naples and Marco Island storms. A whole-home surge protector at the electrical panel costs less than a single oven board replacement.
