Thermador in Naples — Built-In Column Refrigerator & Range Service Guide

Thermador in Naples — Built-In Column Refrigerator & Range Service Guide
Quick Answer

Thermador built-in column refrigerators ($8,000-$15,000) and Pro ranges ($7,000-$18,000) are designed for 20+ year lifespans with serviceable, rebuildable components. Common Thermador service: igniter $250-$400, control board $500-$900, fridge fan motor $350-$550. AllFix is factory-trained on Thermador in Naples with most parts stocked on the truck.

Walk through any new luxury construction in Naples right now — Mediterra's recent product, Talis Park, Quail West, the higher-end of Pelican Bay's renovations — and you will see Thermador in roughly one out of every three kitchens. Ten years ago that number was closer to one in seven. Thermador's rise in the Naples luxury market has been steady, and it has happened mostly at Sub-Zero's expense.

We service more Thermador in 2026 than we did Sub-Zero in 2018. Here is the working guide every Thermador owner in Naples should bookmark — what is common, what is expensive, and how it compares to the Sub-Zero column most clients also considered.

Why Thermador Is Everywhere in Naples Now

A few things drove the shift. Bosch (Thermador's parent) brought serious German engineering investment. Pricing held steady while Sub-Zero pushed up. The T-Series Freedom Collection of built-in columns gave designers flexibility — mix and match refrigerator, freezer and wine columns in any width from 18" to 36". And Thermador's "One-Two-Free" kitchen package program (buy a range and refrigerator, get the dishwasher free) saved buyers $1,500 to $3,500 on a typical luxury kitchen build.

The net effect: Thermador is now the default at the $2.5M to $6M Naples home bracket, with Sub-Zero/Wolf still dominating above that.

The T-Series Freedom Collection — Built-In Column Refrigerators

This is the product line that put Thermador on the map in luxury kitchens. The columns come in three flavors:

  • T18 (18" wide) — typically wine or single-bay use
  • T24 (24" wide) — most common in Naples kitchens, paired
  • T30 and T36 (30" and 36" wide) — single-column kitchens or one-side-only installations

Most Naples installs are a 24" refrigerator column + 24" freezer column side by side, or in larger kitchens a 36" refrigerator + 24" freezer + 18" wine configuration. Pricing is roughly $7,500 to $10,500 per column.

Common Service Issues on T-Series Columns

1. Defrost system failures. This is the most common service call we run on T-Series. Symptoms are frost buildup on the evaporator, gradual temperature rise, eventual full failure. The defrost heater or defrost thermostat is usually at fault. Repair runs $350 to $550 including labor.

2. Ice maker problems. The T-Series ice maker is a known weak point. We see ice maker failures (no ice, low yield, cloudy ice, jammed dispenser) on roughly 20% of T-Series units past year 4. Most failures are the ice maker module or water inlet valve — $250 to $450 repairs.

3. Door alignment and gasket issues. Built-in columns are heavy and the doors carry custom panels. Over time the door can sag, breaking the seal and causing condensation and frost. Adjustment is part of normal service — about $150 to $200.

4. Control board. Less common than the defrost system but happens past year 7-8. Repair runs $550 to $900.

The Pro Grand Range — 36", 48" and 60"

Thermador's Pro Grand series is the head-on competitor to Wolf's dual-fuel ranges. Available in 36" (4 or 6 burners), 48" (six burners + griddle or grill), and 60" (eight burners + griddle), the Pro Grand is built around the Star Burner — Thermador's star-shaped flame pattern that gives more even pan heating than a standard ring.

  • Pricing: 36" Pro Grand $9,500 to $13,500; 48" $13,500 to $18,000; 60" $18,000 to $24,000
  • Configurations: All-gas, dual-fuel (electric oven), induction-top (newer)

Common Service Issues on Pro Grand Ranges

1. Igniter module failures. The most common Pro Grand service issue we encounter. When a burner clicks but does not light, or all burners click constantly, the igniter module needs replacement. Repair runs $250 to $450.

2. Oven control boards. On dual-fuel Pro Grands, the oven control board manages convection, broil, temperature regulation. Failures past year 6 are common. Repair runs $500 to $850.

3. Bake element on dual-fuel. Standard wear item, $200 to $325 to replace.

4. Burner valves. Less common but happens — usually from spillover. $180 to $300 per valve.

Thermador vs Sub-Zero Column — The Honest Comparison

This is the question every Naples designer is asked at the start of a kitchen project. Here is the real answer:

| | Thermador T-Series | Sub-Zero 700 Series | | --- | --- | --- | | 24" Column price | $7,500–$9,500 | $9,500–$11,500 | | Compressor lifespan | 12–18 years | 18–25 years | | Defrost system | More service-prone | Robust | | Ice maker | Weaker | Industry-leading | | Warranty | 2 years parts/labor + 5-year sealed | 2 years full, 12-year sealed | | Parts in Naples | Good (Bosch network) | Excellent (Sub-Zero distributor) |

Honest take: Sub-Zero is still the longer-lifespan product. Thermador is the better-feature, lower-price product. For a 10-year ownership horizon both are excellent. For a 20-year ownership horizon Sub-Zero pulls ahead. Our Sub-Zero deep-dive covers Sub-Zero's failure modes for the comparison.

Thermador's Two-Year Warranty Quirk

This is something many Naples Thermador owners do not know. Thermador's standard warranty is 1 year parts and labor, but they offer a free 1-year extension if you register the product online within 60 days of purchase. The total becomes 2 years parts/labor + 5 years sealed-system.

Always register your Thermador immediately. We have run calls on year-2 Thermador units where the homeowner skipped registration and ended up paying out of pocket on what would have been a warranty claim. The Bosch parent group does honor the extension if you registered — they will not honor it after the fact.

Other German-Group Brands Worth Knowing

Thermador is part of Bosch's BSH group, which also includes Gaggenau (the ultra-luxury sibling, mostly in Port Royal and the highest-end Quail West kitchens). Gaggenau pricing runs roughly 40% above Thermador for similar columns. Liebherr is the independent German competitor — excellent columns at Thermador-adjacent pricing, smaller dealer network in SWFL. Dacor (Samsung-owned now) overlaps in the Pro range market.

When Thermador Repair Makes Sense — and When It Does Not

The core math on Thermador is favorable. Replacement cost for a full Thermador kitchen — pair of columns + Pro Grand range + wall oven + dishwasher — runs $28,000 to $48,000 installed. Most repairs land between $300 and $1,200.

Repair almost always wins if:

  • The unit is under 12 years old
  • The repair quote is under $1,500
  • The failure is not the compressor or sealed system

Replace becomes the conversation if:

  • The unit is over 15 years old AND a major component failed
  • The sealed system has failed and the cabinet shows corrosion (rare in indoor Naples installs, more common on pool-house Thermador)
  • The kitchen is being renovated anyway

The luxury repair-or-replace framework covers this conversation in depth — for a $30,000 kitchen, almost every repair is the right call.
